Fruit Tree Project

Fruit Tree Project is now under new stewardship!

We are happy to announce that the Fruit Tree Project is under new stewardship after being put on hold for a year.  We are excited that Brickers Cider will be taking over coordination of this wonderful community Project! Please visit in the near future for full details from them, they have some exciting ideas in store for the 2019 year.

In the meantime, if you are interested in registering a tree or volunteering to pick, please email:  You may also still register your tree or sign up as a volunteer through the registration buttons below which will be sent directly to the new organizers.
Fruit is an incredibly abundant organic food resource on the Sunshine Coast – so much so that there aren’t nearly enough hands to pick and distribute what grows. As a result, hundreds of pounds of fruit go to waste annually.
The Fruit Tree Project’s mission is to help reduce waste by organizing volunteer pickers to harvest, distribute, process and preserve the excess fruit in our community.
Pesticide-free, organically-grown fruit is harvested between the months of June and October from Gibsons to Pender Harbour.
Historically, picked fruit has been split between the home owners, pickers, charities and the host organization, sharing yields in a diverse and fruitful way!
By bringing people together to harvest fruit, food waste is reduced while improving food security in our community and mitigating wildlife attractants. This is also an avenue to exchange knowledge and information on fruit tree care, harvesting, and fruit preserving.
