Mentor: Share Your Skills

Pass on your valuable skills
There are far too many people in the world with awesome practical knowledge and nobody to pass it onto.
That’s why One Straw links those who want to teach with those who want to learn!
Do you have wisdom or skills to share?
Mentorship pays itself off multiple times over. You refine your own skills, empower others in new skills, and meet people with similar interests.
Host a workshop
Do you have a specialized skill, like canning or making compost? If it can be passed on in a few hours (or even a few hours) then we’d love to help you.
You can host a workshop in a few different ways. Currently, our Live and Learn program is taking a break, but we have opportunities to host workshops at each of our major events (and sometimes in between).
Never hosted a workshop before? Not to worry, we’ll help you figure out the details. Contact us with your workshop idea and we’ll see where it fits!
Become a garden mentor
Whether you’re a food producer or just an avid gardener, your experience is valuable.
There are many people on the Sunshine Coast who have the space to garden but aren’t sure how to make the most of it.
Mentoring is fun and low-commitment. We ask that you make two home visits with the mentee over the course of the season to help them plan and problem-solve their bed.
Don’t worry, we won’t make you dig–although you can if you want to!
