THE STORY: It was 1994, and Ace of Base was #1 on the radio. The Coast was smaller and dustier, and a woman named Robin was parked in the Trail Bay parking lot, flagging people down to sell them plants and seeds from the back of her truck. That farm truck was the epicenter of the very first Seedy Saturday on the Sunshine Coast, and what started the ball rolling. Or… the garden growing, we should say…
The next year, she and a few other locals passionate about food & sustainability founded One Straw Society, and over the past 25 years, we’ve seen hundreds of vendors, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of locals, gardeners and guests take part in Seedy Saturday to kickstart the gardening season!
